Mode 2 charging cables (3-pin plugs)

Connect to a 3-pin socket when the speed and features of a dedicated EV charging point is not required. The socket and electrical installation should be verified as being suitable for EV charging before use.

3-pin sockets should be approved to "BS1363-2 EV" and professionally installed on a new circuit with dedicated RCD, overcurrent and surge protection. PEN fault protection may also be required.
